Types of Tesco Home Insurance Policies:
Tesco Home Insurance currently offers 3 different levels of Irish house insurance cover: Value, Standard and
Finest. While aall are subject to certain limits and exclusions, here is a quick summary of each:
- Value Level: As you might expect, Tesco's "Value" level of cover is the "no frills"
option. It includes such basic essentials as third-party liability (up to €3 million, including fees); owner's
legal liability (up to €3 million, including fees); cover for alternative accomodation (up to 20% of the
buildings sum insured); cover for tenant's liability for damages (up to 20% of the contents sum insured); and
cover for up to 35 days of 'un-occupancy'.
At this level, the policy excess is €500 and the subsidence excess is €1,000. Also, the single item limit for
high-risk/valuable items is 5% of the contents sum insured.
- Standard Level: The "Standard" level carries all the same features as the "Value"
level, but also has many additional benefits too, such as cover for fire brigade charges up to €1,000; cover
for the replacement of door locks up to €500; cover for the replacement of title deeds up to €500; cover for
contents in the garden up to €500; unlimited cover for the loss of oil and cover up to €1,000 for related
clean-up expenses; cover for personal money up to €250; cover for credit cards up to €1,000; cover for jury
service of €50 per day up to a maximum of €500; and cover for visitors personal items up to €500.
At this level, the policy excess is €350, while the subsidence excess remains the same as at the "Value"
level (€1,000). Also, the single item limit for high-risk/valuable items is also 5% of the contents sum
insured.
- Finest Level: The "Finest" level carries all the same features provided for in the
"Standard" level, except that the level of cover for fire brigade charges rises to €2,000; cover for door locks
replacement goes up to €1,000; title deeds replacement goes up to €1,000; garden contents goes up to
€1,000; clean up expenses following loss of oil goes up to €2,000; personal money cover goes up
to €500; vistiors personal items go up to €1,000; and cover for jury service is extended to a maximum
of €1,000, instead of just €500.
There are also additional benefits at this level, such as cover for legal fees for the removal of
squatters up to €15,000; cover for the adaption of your home following disability up to €10,000; and cover for
landscaping and plants up to the value of €2,500.
At this level, the policy excess is €200, while the subsidence excess remains the same as at the "Value" and
"Standard" levels (€1,000). Also, the single item limit for high-risk/valuable items is rises to 10% of
the contents sum insured.
